GARDENS OF THE SUCY-EN-BRIE CASTLE
GRADUATION PROJECT, 2016
To complete my Interior Architecture studies, I was required to select a building and work on it for a full year, developing a program (theme) of my choice.
I chose the Château de Sucy-en-Brie which, although serving as the town’s conservatory and classified as a historic building, had long been perceived by many as little more than a “town center parking lot” (survey) (see site plan photo). The château needed to regain its former prestige.
For the program, I decided to remain within the theme of music, but to present it in all its facets to the wider public — music across eras, cultures, and in connection with other art forms. I titled the concept: “MUSICAL POROSITIES.”
→ The full Master’s project is not presented here — I simply wanted to share my approach to the site’s exterior design. (The full project is available on its own dedicated website — feel free to ask me for access!).
My intention for the landscape was to symbolize the diffusion of music in waves, radiating from a central point toward the outer edges — as if to draw visitors in. The château’s entrances were reimagined as playful and interactive “musical paths”, each one based on a major family of instruments.
Below are a few visuals: plan, elevations, model photos, project drawings, and 3D views of the musical paths.

Two years after I presented my project to the city (as a thank-you for granting me access to the château and permission to work on it), the grounds were renovated — restoring the estate to its former glory.
